TV show instantly increases Norwegian cruise bookings 40% – as it airs

Hurtigruten, a Norwegian tour company, saw an instant spike in bookings when one of it’s Northern Lights cruises was featured in the BBC programme, Star Gazing Live.

The company saw a 50% increase in bookings over the two days the programme aired, with their website getting its highest number of hits ever at 8pm, when the show was broadcast.

More interestingly, 40% of the people accessing the website and booking were using a tablet or mobile, obviously researching the trip while they were still sat in front of the TV.

COMMENT: There’s not much action during these cruises, but like a relatively boring product unboxing, sometimes showing what feels like too much information can actually inspire people to buy.
